Castle Country Club

Although the Castle isn't strictly a Spa, it has good facilities including a gym, sports hall, pool (with sauna/steam/jacuzzi), and on-site beauty therapist plus a range of classes both for adults and children.

I'm reviewing it here as it would be a great place to go with friends who have children to spend the day - the creche could have the little ones for a few hours and the rest of the time it would be easy to 'take it in turns' while the others relaxed.

You need to book in advance for treatments at 'Koalas' the on-site beauty rooms.

The club is buggy accessible although there are two steps up to the corridor to the changing rooms and the corridor itself is quite narrow, although navigable by most size of single buggy. Both the male and female changing rooms have a nappy changing table and the female changing rooms also have a handy playpen as well as space for buggies (the mens are a bit smaller so buggies would have to be folded).

In the pool area there is a children-only pool and also an 'adults only' area with an additional spa pool, sauna and steam room as well as a relaxation area with newspapers, for when you just need to escape for a few moments!

They do water-confidence classes for babies as young as 3 months as well as a range of 'exercise with baby' classes.

If you are not a member you can spend the day at the club for £25 which gives you access to all the facilities or you can accompany a member for less. There is a cafe which serves meals and snacks throughout the day, including a childrens mnu which includes healthy options of sandwiches. yogurts and fruit.
