Massive sports and activity shop, Barcelona

4

Decathlon is a chain with a couple of large shops in town (Old City and L'Illa) but both of those are a little bit poky with narrow aisles despite (because of?) having such an excellent range of stock.

The Port Forum shop, presumably because the retail space there isn't exactly at a premium, is huge (4000 sq.m.) with loads of space, really wide aisles (very buggy friendly) a huge lift and sports activities for children: soft play for toddlers (need to be supervised) and football nets, dance mats etc for older kids.

In addition there are toilets and a changing mat in the unisex disabled loo.

The range of stock is fantastic and the children's ranges are extensive. Pretty much every sport you can imagine is covered from gymnastics to scuba diving to horse riding to ski-ing. There is a huge area dedicated to cycling, also when I was there I saw several kids trying out various skateboards (there is that much space!).

There are a couple of customer service points on each floor and the staff seemed friendly and pro-active which is always a surprise in Spain.
