Top quality but not over-formal French restaurant
Le Pont de la Tour is part of the D and D group which used to be the Conran group. The restaurant is a white tablecloth affair but the Bar & Grill has the feel of a Brasserie. We dined early and the clientele was mainly post work drinks and nibble people, but it filled up with diners soon enough.
There is a grand piano and while we were there a chap was playing lounge classics which is a nice touch (although the piano is pretty loud so if you want intimate conversation don't sit next to it!).
Food is surprisingly reasonable for a 'Marque' restaurant - starters around the £5 to £7 mark and mains from £9 to £15. They have an offer at lunchtime and via TopTable for 2 courses and a glass of wine for £19.50 but to be honest it's not much more if you go a la carte...our dinner for four with starters, mains, two puddings, glasses of wine via the offer and another bottle came to just over £100 which was a bargain considering the quality of the food and the level of service. Everything is well presented and tasty, using a nice mix of good quality ingredients.
Access to the Pont de la Tour is along the south bank riverside so completely flat unless you are coming from the North side of the river in which case you have to negotiate the steps down from Tower Bridge or go right to the end of Tower Bridge Road and then head down to Shad Thames from there. The way in to the Bar and Grill is flat, and the staff were happy to move tables around to accommodate us so presumably would do the same if you had a buggy with you.
