Wagamama Sheffield

Wagamama is a well known chain based around the Japanese ramen bar idea, although the culinary influences of the food - which is always cooked from fresh - are Japan, China, Thailand and all over SE Asia.

Interestingly they have a policy of not using microwaves so you know everything is cooked 'properly'.

The service is fast, with orders being sent directly to the kitchen as you make them via the servers' handheld devices - very clever and efficient. Do be aware that not all meals will necessarily arrive at the same time. This is not a lapse in service but a result of the policy of cooking everything fresh then serving it immediately. If you want to avoid everyone picking at your food when your dish arrives first, then order a few of the tasty side dishes like gyoza (stuffed dumplings, boiled or fried) as these will most likely arrive first.

The staff are welcoming and happy to spend time with guests who don't quite know what some of dishes involve and need some advice.

Main dishes range from £6.50 - £12.50 for a main course with an average spend per head between £12-£13.

The entire restaurant is a family friendly zone; they have a variety of nutritionally balanced childrens' meals all around the £3.50 mark and there are changing facilities in the unisex disabled toilet at floor level. They provide highchairs that clamp to the table. The entrance is up a couple of steps but there is a ramp, and there is space for buggy parking at the entrance.
